Install
Up and running in four steps.
Open the disk image
Double-click the .dmg and drag Saral into Applications. Updating? Quit Saral first. Your settings, keys and meetings stay put.
Approve the first launch
Open Saral from Applications. If macOS blocks it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
Grant access
Allow Microphone, Accessibility and Input Monitoring when asked. Saral’s Home screen shows anything still missing.
Hold Fn and speak
In Keyboard settings, set “Press Fn key to” to “Do Nothing”. Then hold Fn, talk, and let go.
Run the installer
Open the Setup .exe. Saral installs for your user account and adds a Start menu shortcut and an uninstaller.
Get past SmartScreen
The free installer has no paid signing certificate, so Windows may warn you. Choose More info → Run anyway.
Allow the microphone
Approve microphone access when Windows asks. Keep the app you type into at the same privilege level as Saral.
Hold the shortcut
Hold Ctrl Alt Space, talk, and let go. Text lands where your cursor is.

Dictate offline
Open Settings → AI & models → On-device and download a Whisper model. Base is a good place to start; larger models trade speed for accuracy.

Add a key for Groq, Deepgram, OpenAI-compatible services, Gemini, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Sarvam, NVIDIA or Ollama, then set the order Saral should try them in.

What you need
MacApple Silicon or Intel. Computer-audio capture for meetings needs macOS 14.2 or later.
Windows64-bit (x64). Computer-audio capture is supported.

Updates, inside Saral
Saral checks quietly after launch. When a new version is ready, a small notice offers a background download, and you decide when to open the verified installer.
On a Mac, replace the app in Applications yourself for now. Settings, saved keys, downloaded models and meetings live outside the app, so they carry over.
